Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy Goals for 2026

No matter the age or skill level, building your child’s motor skills should be on your to-do list for 2026. Using proven therapy techniques, occupational/physical therapy can help your child become more confident and independent this year.

All kids grow at their own pace, but we have a proven record of helping kids in Indianapolis and Carmel reach the next milestone. Obviously, these are wide ranging goals but you can tailor them to your child’s journey to help them grow physically and confidently.

Occupational Therapy Goals

  • Dressing and self-care (brushing teeth, combing hair, washing hands)

  • Fine motor skills - pencil holding, writing, color in the lines,

  • Mealtime participation - setting the table, (safely!) cutting fruit and other soft foods

  • Leading bedtime routines

Physical Therapy Goals

  • Improved balance and coordination (Standing on one foot, hopping from foot to foot, less falling, crawling to walking to running)

  • Walking up and down stairs

  • Playground confidence - encouraging your child to safely climb a latter or go down the big slide

  • Sports readiness - introducing sports and other organized activities to help your child grow.
